New research asserts that pioglitazone (Actos) is as much a cardiovascular risk as rosiglitazone (Avandia).
Published in the journal Circulation‚ the study found that patients who take either drug are at 4 percent higher risk of heart attack‚ heart failure‚ or death. A new study has found that popular diabetes drugs rosiglitazone (Avandia) and pioglitazone (Actos) increase the risk of fracture in older women.
Researchers, writing in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, looked at a large study known as TRIAD to identify 786 cases of fractures and compare them to 2,657 patients who had diabetes but no fracture history.
